IMCA Insights – October 2009
2009 IMCA Board & Officer Election Results
by Norbert Classen
Dear Members, Dear
Visitors,
We have been very busy on the IMCA Board of Directors after the recent
public Elections - thus the delay of the October issue of IMCA Insights.
In this issue we would like to officially
announce the results of our annual Elections. Three new (and old) Board Members
have been elected or re-elected by our Membership for a term of three years:
Maria Haas
Andrzej Pilski
Dave Gheesling
Congratulations to the three of you, and welcome (back) on Board! Our
thanks goes also to the Candidates who didn't make it, this year - we
hope that you will run for the Board in 2010!
We now have a new Board
comprised of nine IMCA Board Members:
Martin Altmann - Germany
Anne Black - USA
Norbert Classen - Germany
Dave Gheesling - USA
Maria Haas - USA
Jeff Kuyken - Australia
Larry Lebofsky - USA
Andrzej S. Pilski - Poland
Sergey Vasiliev - Czech Republic
Nine members from five different countries representing our international
association - not as "international" as last year since we lost
Switzerland with Peter Marmet who retired and wasn't up for re-election
(thanks again, Peter - it was great serving with you on the Board!).
Anyway, the nine Board members and their nationalities still reflect our
membership very well.
The nine Board members got
together, more recently, and voted for the Officers that will serve on
the Board for the next year. In an unanimous decision we decided to keep
things as they are, following the saying "Never change a winning team". Thus,
the new and old IMCA Board Officers are:
Norbert Classen - President
Anne Black - Vice President
Andrzej S. Pilski - Secretary
Maria Haas - Treasurer
Congratulations to all, and thanks for your confidence. We are looking
forward to keep on making the meteorite world a better place, and to
serve your interest to the best of our abilities. Actually, we are
already busy working on new projects, including new educational
approaches, better information on international and national meteorite
laws etc. Stay tuned - I'm sure we will be able to present you with a
lot of interesting and useful information in the upcoming issues of IMCA
Insights.
All the best,
Norbert Classen
President IMCA Inc.
