About Me: | Hello, my name is Peter Dickmann. Born in 1966, Ive grown up with - and have always been fascinated by - the NASA space program and the Apollo astronauts landings on the surface of the moon. Starting a new hobby together with my father Guenther, Im collecting rocks, fossils and minerals since my elementary-school days in the 1970s. During a high-school trip to the city of Berlin in 1982, I bought my first meteorite in a local rock shop - a 110 gram iron-meteorite-individual of Canyon Diablo. Finally owning a rock, which has fallen down to Earth as a meteorite, this was the beginning of my neverending fascination and passion for this "stones from the stars". But imagine: since a few years, its even possible for private collectors to buy and own meteorites, originally coming from the moon and some other planets of our solar system ... several of them even found by members of this IMCA in the hot deserts of our Earth! And even if Ill never be an astronaut myself, Im able to hold a stone in my hands, thats origin is the surface of the moon ...same thingNeil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin have done on July 20, 1969: "Houston, Tranquility base here. The Eagle has landed." Meteoritically yours, Peter Dickmann. IMCA member #1050. Member of the Meteroritical Society. |
